A Greek In-law

A Greek In-law

For my 60th post I decided that it just wasn’t possible to come up with 60 ways to keep your Greek in-laws happy so instead a short poem about them will have to suffice.

Greek In-Laws

Greek in-laws are a dime a pair,

Always watching, always there,

Wed their child and you will see,

How in your space they’ll always be,

Your deepest interests they have at heart,

From you and your spouse they’ll never part,

Involved in everything you do,

There’s nothing they wouldn’t give to you,

Other than your sanity,

Your freedom and your privacy,

You must conform or else be damned,

Exiled from the mother-land,

For intertwined your paths now lie,

There’s no escape until the day you die,

So embrace the love your in-laws share,

For deep down, they really care.

Absolutely suffocating. Boundary taking. Meddling and intrusive. No privacy, rude, and entitled Greek x-inlaws. Thank god I got away with my daughter. Couldn’t stand it, or them! Freedom at last..

🙁 so sorry you had such a terrible experience. Let’s hope it’s not like that for everyone! X
