It’s my Birthday and I’ll smash plates if I want to!

It’s my Birthday and I’ll smash plates if I want to!

So here I am, another year older, not necessarily wiser, and now on the wrong side of 25.

According to my cheerful 17-year-old brother, my body has been deteriorating since the age of around 20, so he has informed me that in a few years time I should look thoroughly haggard.

Already I receive various junk mail in the post and via email advising me to try out new arthritis treatments and how best to avoid rheumatism. Even my dentist recently told me that the reason for my increasingly sensitive teeth is simply down to AGE…and over consumption of creme eggs.

My Greek relatives have suddenly started panicking over my fertility, helpfully pointing out that “you better start making babies soon or else people will wonder what’s wrong with you”. I’m quite sure that people have been wondering what’s wrong with me for years, so I doubt that this will be too much cause for concern.

Of course my father still thinks that I am about 10 years-old, continuing to check whether restaurants/ holiday destinations allow children under the age of 16.

Secretly I’ve always liked the idea of turning 26. In general people seem to have more respect for you as you get older. No-one likes a 21-year-old know-it-all, but a 26-year-old is nearer to 30, and thus has more life experience and should be more mature. My opinions seem to garner slightly more interest than they did last year, although I still continue to get the harsh look of disapproval from some of the Greek elders who firmly believe that age comes before everything, and that I should simply be seen and not heard.

Of course I will never let that happen, and as each year goes by, I endeavour to be seen and heard much much more.

So here’s wishing myself and anyone else who was born on April 10th, a very Happy Birthday!

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

    Happy Birthday Ekaterina!!

Don’t worry, your not that old yet. You still have plenty of time to for baby making – before actually having them.

Beautiful pics. It seems that you have always had the eyes of a star.
