Move over Demis Roussos, here’s Dimitrios Botzios!

In my post My Big Fat Greek Family Part 1: The Baba I explained how my father recorded several Greek and English song tracks in his heyday, when he was being touted as the next Demis Roussos (the thinner version).

An accomplished and talented singer and guitarist, he once was short-listed to appear on Stars in their Eyes (much to my horror!) and continues to flex his vocal muscles at any opportunity.

One time we were walking up a mountain somewhere in Greece when we chanced upon two young men singing and playing bouzouki. My father joined in right there and then and the next thing I knew a large crowd had gathered, clapping and cheering them on!

So I have decided to share a Greek song he recorded in the 1980’s entitled Ντρεπομαι (Drepome) which translates as So Ashamed. It’s a beautiful love song and very very Greek!

More Greek music can be heard on my drop down menu The Best Music is Greek Opa! on the right hand side.
